STATISTICAL ANALYSIS APPLIED TO GENOME AND PROTEOME ANALYSES
Biochemistry and Fundamental Medicine
Date
Feb 04-08, 2008
Organisers
Mauro Delorenzi (SIB-ISREC), Félix Naef (SIB-EPFL), Sven Bergmann (SIB-CHUV), Vassilios Ioannidis (SIB)
Site

Theme
The course is aimed at biomedical graduate students and research scientists. The purpose of the course is to present and discuss selected methods that are particularly useful in the analysis and interpretation of data produced with modern genomics and proteomics technologies. In the computer lab, methods will be applied to case studies.
The course will cover unsupervised and supervised analysis methods for class discovery and class discrimination and the modular analysis of data (mostly gene expression); the analysis of SNP array data for gene-phenotype association studies and motif identification in biological sequence data using improved background models.
Requirements
Basic training in applied mathematics and statistics, basic training in the use of the R software (only a quick reminder will be provided). The SIB course ”Introduction to BioStatistics” and ”DNA Microarrays data analysis” are good preparations to this course.
Deadline
Dec 31, 2007
